Paddleboarding

I have found a water sport that I am capable of, to add to my (very small) arsenal - paddleboarding! Billy got the idea that we really had to try this out so a few weeks ago we went to the Jordanelle and gave it whirl. Mitch came along too and he and Billy were quite a bit more successful at it than me, but I hung in there, even when the speed boats created HUGE (dramatized) waves that had me doing hip circles to keep my balance (see picture 2).

Buddy was an all-star. He is such a good swimmer, it really does amaze me sometimes. He will just paddle paddle paddle all day long. He loved getting on the board and riding with Billy or Mitch (I didn't go fast enough to interest Buddy). When anyone would fall in the water or flap around or something, Buddy would do a champion pose, stare, and then dive into the water and make sure they were ok. It won a lot of folks over, let me tell ya. Who wouldn't want that little face coming to check on you?

We had so much fun that we've gone a handful of times since. This Labor Day we took the paddleboarding to a new level and went on a sunset/moonlit ride on the Great Salt Lake (think pitch-black with a gorgeous night time sky above) with Glitch and spent a day at Causey Reservoir paddling too. It was great spending the weekend hanging out with friends and soaking up the (last of?) summer rays.

Right as the sun set. After sunset, it was a beautiful, star-lit sky.

Here is a rough-cut video that Billy took on a go-pro camera from our trip to Causey. It's of him favorite subject - Buddy.

Back to Back Summer fun!
