PERU: Pisco and Paracas

DAY 3: PISCO and PARACAS

We headed 5 hours south of Lima to Pisco and Paracas on the southern coast. Paracas, known as the "poor mans Galapagos Islands" is full of wildlife variety like I've never seen. More birds, penguins, seals, fish than I could imagine. We took a boat tour out to these incredible arches in the water (think southern Utah in landscape and size, in the middle of the ocean). Favorites of our expedition included the pregnant seal and the guareno, which Tony our tour guide called "el graaaand POOperrr". He's right - the poop is harvested yearly for fertilizer. And man, it poops.

Beyond excrement, Paracas had an awesome, laid-back, beach feel. There were tons of local artisans, including the Rasta that made Billy and me matching wedding bands.

We ate ceviche (Peruvian speciality) on the beach and relaxed with little Diego here on the boardwalk. What a charming town.

Ol' Llegito (little Diego) here and a Jugo Especial which Gard and the Beast drank every meal
